Meet Alpine’s iLX-007 a CarPlay solution from one of the most respected car audio companies in the world.
When Apple announce a partnership that will see Alpine release a CarPlay capable head unit in the fall of 2014, I was excited. My current Alpine solution dates back to 2006. Way ahead of it time, I have been enjoying safe, hands free solution, and the ability to stream audio via bluetooth from my iPhone or connected via USB for my iPod. all controlled from my in dash 7-inch Alpine head unit.
Te new iLX-007 has been recently rumoured to have an early October release. That could be as early as next week. So what can we expect Alpine and Apple’s partnership.? Well, little is know. It is expected from Apple to keep these a secret. Alpine appears to be playing along or not wanting to reveal much either.
The basic of the CarPlay features have been announced earlier this year when Apple announced the project and its first automotive partner, Ferrari.
The main functions from your iPhone, Maps, Messaging, will be integrated with this in dash solution. for additional information see Apple’s Official CarPlay Page here.
What about the Alpine technology? Without trying to sound like a spec sheet, I have come up with a couple of my most wanted features.
SiriusXM SXV200 Tuner build-in
Built-in HD Radio™ w/iTunes Tagging
9-Band Parametric Equalizer
iData link ready.
Rear and front view camera ready.
Imprint (built-in)
Heck, I know Alpine will include some new feature I have not thought about. No Official word from Alpine. release date, or features.
A related blog recently publish, also includes information about the new unreleased product. here
